7 research projects are being implemented at enterprises of East Kazakhstan region

At the session of regional maslikhat, Akim of East Kazakhstan region Danial Akhmetov told about the cooperation with D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University

In total, now enterprises jointly with the University are launching 7 research projects in the mining and processing, oil and gas industries and high-tech medicine worth KZT5.1 billion.

We are talking about the unique production of homogeneous alloys based on tantalum, titanium, niobium, which due to their high strength will be widely used in medicine. Their use significantly reduces the cost of operations, makes innovative medical technologies more affordable.

By the way, the first results of the work were quite successful. On the basis of UMP JSC, 1 km of a superconducting wire for a magnetic resonance imager was manufactured. After that, the Japanese company Furukawa ElectricCo carried out the necessary tests, and was satisfied with the quality of the material manufactured. Now, East Kazakhstan and Japanese partners are solving the issues of organizing the joint superconducting wire production.

It should be noted that in addition, large-scale modernization is underway at the enterprises of the region.

UMP JSC is undergoing technical re-equipment at uranium and beryllium production, Ust-Kamenogorsk Capacitor Plant LLP is working on the development of 11 new types of products, KazElectroMash LLP plans to launch serial production of high-voltage cable from cross-linked polyethylene in the second half of 2019. This type of cable is innovative in the field of power supply. In addition, Semey Engineering JSC is implementing a project to create a center for engineering and technical maintenance, repair and modernization of heavy military and civilian equipment.
